CHAPTER ELEVEN:

Christmas was right around the corner; I had asked Celeste to come with me to find a couple more gifts and a few books for Varian. With her drawing more as therapy, I wanted her to have books on artists and different drawing styles. I had been given permission to have these books delivered to her. I also wanted to grab her special pencils and some sketch books.

I picked her up after she had gotten home from her day at school. She was looking forward to being out to enjoy Christmas festivities. I was looking forward to being near her in a public setting.

I took this opportunity to make a mental note of things I saw that she was liking and telling me about. It worked out to my advantage. I want to make her a huge basket with everything.

“Does she have a specific style?” She asked, looking through some of the books.

“No, she’s really good at a lot of different kinds, she loves drawing comic style.” I looked at each book, reading the back, and adding it to the pile. There was a good pile of twenty books including a couple for Celeste. “I think this should do it. The supplies I ordered are right to her place at the hospital.”

Celeste smiled, then kissed me on the cheek. “You are an incredible sister; I can’t wait to meet her.”

“Maybe you would like to come with me?”

“I’d like that. From what you have told me about her, she’s got to be a riot to be around.” I loved how she remembers details about the people in my life.

“I don’t know now. She does know some embarrassing stories about me.”

“That is even better.” I laugher with her as she teased me.

We gathered up the books and placed them on the counter. “All set?” Said the voice down behind the counter.

“Yes, thank you.” We paid and went back to my car. The lights on the stores were perfectly placed in the windows of the displays. Christmas was always one of my favorite times of the year. I loved seeing Mika and Michelle run down to rip open their presents. Soon I hope to spoil Carter and Cassandra when they feel that magic.

I placed everything in the back, and a hand came to the small of my back. Celeste had looked so beautiful in these twinkling lights all over.

“Would you like to go somewhere else before the night ends?” She kissed me gently and then smiled, squeezing my hand. “I’ll take that as a, yes?” I said, causing her to laugh.

“This place is magical.” Celeste said as she enjoyed the special drink, I had ordered her while sitting in Coffee Mug, the city's best cafe club this side of the Kingdom. I have loved this place since a friend of mine opened it more than many years ago. “How did you find it?”

“Remy, the woman behind the counter. She opened this place almost a decade ago, she has come a long way since we were kids.
